GORMIRE GAMBLE FELL RACEFinal results with points, teams and race report.There was a course record for Sam Gunning Vale of York breaking 41 minutes, no record but a cracking run for Jodi Bemand West Cheshire AC also Under 23 to win the womens race. 143 started and finished the race with surplus funds to the North York Moors Trust and the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team just over £400 each.In the teams competition, St Theresa's AC claimed the women's title with Esk Valley Fell Club A second and York Knavesmire Harriers in third (their ghost runner third lifted them above Pickering RC)In the mens team Esk Valley Fell Club A claimed the win to beat their B team with North York Moors AC in third.Thank you to Alan Simpson Race Organiser and his volunteers from Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers and see you all at Lockton Limping Fell Race on Sunday 26th October 2025 ... Dave Parry LETS RUN Summer Fell Race Series 2025Male awardsThe summer fell race series of 12 events closed out with Fryup Frazzler in September. There were 490 different competitors (143 female and 347 male) with 1114 race completions. Andrew Armin of Saltwell Harriers put his name on the roll of honour as male Summer series fell race Champion 2025 as well as claiming the open category. Adrian Bushby, City of Hull Athletic Club bettered his winter series fourth place to earn the runners up spot and M55 title. And Paul Lawton, Scarborough AC equalled his winter series third place finish. Stephen Pugh, Esk Valley Fell Club went one place better in fourth overall and Damian Kilpin, Penistone Footpath Runners & AC rounded out the top five.Matthew Clark, Esk Valley Fell Club claimed the MU23 age group title, with Peter Walker, York Knavesmire Harriers taking the M40 award, Reiner Hesse of Loftus & Whitby A.C was M45 winner and Chris Jefferies, took over from his Billingham RC team mate to win the M50 award. David Allison, North York Moors AC was our M60 winner and Neil RIP Ridsdale, Esk Valley Fell Club retained his M65 title again. In the final age category award, it was Geoffrey Usher, running as an Individual who wins the M70 title.Well done to the eleven male endurance award winners, it was Loftus & Whitby A.C runner Benjamin Whitworth who attended every event (11 races and one as volunteer), with team mates Graham Palmer and Kevin Rudd also claiming awards. Esk Valley Fell Club had three winners, Ian Robinson, Philip Baines and Julian Wardman, North York Moors AC two winners Mark Edwards and Anthony Harnett, Billingham RC also two recipients, Stephen Roe and Calvin Nicholson, with David Sanderson running as an individual (now Esk Valley Fell Club) claiming the final endurance award.In the team awards it was Esk Valley Fell Club who made it three series team wins on the bounce who claimed the title with seventeen different counters, runners up were Loftus & Whitby A.C with North York Moors AC men matching their female counterparts performance in third place. Presentations will commence at the Lockton Limping fell race this coming sunday 26th October 2025 at the post race ceremony, never mind the weather, as we have a village hall and refreshments available. Esther Harrison of Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers went one better than her Winter Series 2024/25 runner-up spot to claim the top step of the podium as Champion and open category winner. Natalie Greaves, York Knavesmire Harriers claimed the runners up spot and F40 category win, with long time series lead Abigail Carter, St Theresa's AC claiming third place. Michaela Welham, Loftus & Whitby A.C repeated her winter series fourth place finish and F45 category win and Nicola Thorpe, Pickering RC completes the top five and claims the F55 category win.Amie Cooper was our FU23 winner, and in a first time i believe, Louise Mayfield, Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers and Catherine Shutt, North York Moors AC were the joint F50 winners. Hilary Allan, Esk Valley Fell Club in her second season of fell racing was our F60 winner with Alison Lloyd, North York Moors AC and Sue Haslam, Scarborough AC both repeating their winter series F65 and F70 category wins respectively.There were two female endurance award winners this series, so well done to Lynn Humpleby of Pickering RC and Lucy Sillars, Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers with nine and eleven counting events respectively. In the team awards which went to the last event to be decided it was Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers who just won out with eleven participants counting to their win, from winter series team winners Pickering RC, and North York Moors AC placed third. RO details below.Parking: When entering the village from the A169 please use the junction adj. the cricket field - rather than Hostess Lane - in order to encounter our parking marshals who'll give you directions for considerate parking in the village. Please car-share if possible as parking is limited.Please bring the full FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit; waterproof whole-body cover (with taped seams and integrated attached hood), hat, gloves, map of the route and compass (no GPS), whistle and emergency food.Entry fees:FRA Member £8Non-FRA Member £9Please try to bring the correct moneyThe route down the first descent, just after the start will be marked to go the longer route through the grass and gorse field . This avoids the steep and slippery descent through the wood. But the route you take is your choice.Be aware of traffic on the downhill road section.The descent down Dundale Griff ,between CP5A and CP6 is a more eroded and rougher than last year , particularly near the bottom end so please be careful and also be vigilant for both exposed and projecting upwards tree roots.About 1000m after CP7 there is a wooden bridge to cross . In wet conditions this bridge and the wooden duck boards before it are VERY SLIPPERY and hazardous , so please slow down and take care crossing them.Julian Hall First Aid Services is attending and will move around the course during the race and will visit CP3 and CP5B .
